i’m back again. not joking. really.

Hi, remember me?  Yeah, it’s been awhile.  Sowwy.

Lots of things have contributed to my lack of posting (turns out I had swine flu!), but no need to dwell on the past (oink, oink).  To the future!

There have been SO MANY THINGS I have wanted to post about, and my wonderful friends continue to send me quirky things on the interwebs that they know I will adore– like this video from my friend Laura.  I think I’ve watched it five times.

AMAZING.

Or this Web site, www.peopleofwalmart.com, which has been sent to me by faithful readers Miguel and Civil War Dave.

These times are crazier than ever.  Jon and Kate do nothing but fight, Fox News’ Shep Smith is starting to sound like a socialist fascist communist Democrat, the Republicans are threatening to teabag the American people and Jessica Simpson’s dog was eaten by a coyote!  Yikes! Those are clearly the most important things going on in the world today.

And as if life in general wasn’t dangerous enough, Alexander McQueen has decided to introduce TEN INCH high heels to the world:

Grosssssss.  I don’t know, but something about them reminds me of giraffe hooves (I’m a nature girl), which is oddly appropriate.  There are more, you can see them here.

But hey, at least one thing is right in this world.  Jim and Pam are getting hitched tonight! RAWR!

today is a google holiday, hooray!

Two people tipped me off to today’s Google Holiday (thanks, Amelia and Kels!), which has caused people the world ’round to be all “Uhhhh is my computer broken?” But don’t worry, people, your computer isn’t broken! It’s just Google being its wacky self. Let me share the email I received as my second tip this morning:

I realized after I typed this gem [pictured below] in that today is a google holiday! I was actually a little concerned because I just thought that it was my computer being broken. Also, you might wonder, gosh, why was Kelsey googling “mase, money, anus”? And the answer to that is that I am an embarassingly white girl who is completely out of touch with American pop culture, so I didn’t understand a lot of this website. Now I do though!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet my best friend from home! You probably should go to that website, just to understand why Kelsey’s search makes sense, and also because it’s entertaining.

Today’s Google Holiday: Invention of the Bar Code. Today marks the 57th anniversary of the first bar code patent. And guys, we should celebrate, because how else could we buy Cheetos with such ease? Here, read more. (And also maybe let me know how it’s possible that Wikipedia updates things the second they happen. It already knows about today’s Google Holiday…cah-raaaazy.)

because maybe this time is different.

I can say with 99% certainty that this is my favorite music video ever, in the history of the world. I’m shocked that I haven’t posted it yet:

Did your heart just break open all over your laptop? Mine does, every time.

today is a google holiday, hooray!

Sooo I’m sitting here on the couch of our Korean-in-looks-alone correspondent in the apartment that she shares with the worst guest blogger ever, Shannon Marie. We are eating all sorts of delicious foods and drinking red wine out of Christmas wine glasses at 5 p.m. because I’M IN CHICAGO, so why not? (And even though Chicago doesn’t get to host the 2016 Olympics, and even though it got kicked out first, and even though Bad Guest Blogger Shannon volunteered for the bid, it’s still a cool city, okay?)

But there’s another reason to celebrate: it’s a Google Holiday!

Today’s Google Holiday: Gandhi’s birthday! Today would have been Gandhi’s 140th birthday. Celebrate by being kind to your friends, flashing the peace sign often, and rocking a moustache, if you’re so inclined/capable.
