IS. THIS. REAL. LIFE.

One of my all-time favorites:
“Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.” [Christopher Morley]

So I’ve been a Bon Iver fan for a while now, but ever since I posted about “Blood Bank” on Valentine’s Day, I haven’t been able to stop listening to them. Several months is a long time — at least, for me — to be on a one-band kick. And it’s not like they’re all I listen to, but I straight up cannot get enough of Justin Vernon’s voice. These days, I’m lovin’ on this a cappella version of “For Emma”:
I can’t stop myself. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. My friend’s friend — also named Justin, oddly enough — said the following about the For Emma, Forever Ago album:
“Bon Iver’s album For Emma, Forever Ago blows me away. It’s like listening to music for the very first time. So simple so sweet.”
Well said, sir.
If you’re just as obsessed as I am, you should also watch this video. It makes the whole band seem a little more real, in a cool way. Like, yeah they’re so talented it hurts your feelings, but they also ask each other questions like “Does your dick sing falsetto?” It’s a nice contrast.

Hey folks, ever lie in bed at night wondering what the first video EVER to be put on the YouTubes was? No, really, have you? Well, here is your answer. Five years ago today, Jawed Karim, one of YouTube’s founders, posted this video of himself at the San Diego Zoo. Thanks, Jawed, for starting one of the most entertaining outlets for people to publicly embarrass themselves… or, even more likely, embarrass their friends. A tip of the hat to you, sir! PS- Your video? BOOOOOOOOOOOORING.
Okay. So the video is pretty lame and I try to bring you entertaining yooootoooobs to make the work day go by a little faster. Here’s something cooler:
It’s not a trick, it’s an ILLUSION! Two points if you get the reference.
And on that note, I hope the next 2.5 hours fly by for you all!

Today’s Google Holiday: Earth Day. Shocking, right?
What I was Googling: seance. It’s, um, a hard word to spell. And I may have been Googling it for reasons involving spirit animals and DVDs and shammans but you know what DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT. Instead, focus on the fact that the following video just broke my heart into a million pieces:
As if I wasn’t already completely and totally obsessed with pugs, someone comes along and makes a video about an environmentally-friendly pug. And then I swoon, and try to again figure out how a pug could live in my shoebox-sized apartment when I’m about to start a job that will require a lot of travel. The world is so cruel, but I have faith that Jeff (my future pug, duh) and I will be together one day. Until then, thank god for videos of pug puppies on YouTube.

You’re getting two for one today, folks. HOW EXCITED ARE YOU??!
First, via a budding lawyer friend, yet another video that proves that drunk people will never not be entertaining:
(I think the moral of the story here is that you should wear full-on shoes to Coachella.)
And going to another extreme, a real-life lawyer friend we’ll call LRB showed me this gem yesterday, proving that little kids will also never not be entertaining:
Best part: “CHOCOLATEEEEEE!!!!!” I have a feeling I’ll end up with a child just like that.
If you ever find good stuff (videos or otherwise) that must be shared with the world, feel free to send it our way at sixwordstochangetheworld@gmail.com.

During my morning news perusal, I came across a story on the HuffPo about Tiger Woods. First of all, I am SO OVER the Tiger Woods story, but this headline caught my eye: Tiger Woods Parties at Nickelback Concert in Orlando.
Which made me actually exclaim out loud, “does that man have a publicist?!”
Tiger, here’s a little free advice. If you want to rehab your image and not look like a huge d-bag, going to a Nickelback concert is not the way to go about it. It’s like Jon Gosselin wearing Ed Hardy and trying to rock a faux-hawk. You. Look. Bad.
Take your kids to a Wiggles concert. Move back to your hometown to “rediscover your roots”. Open up a golf course specifically for underprivileged children.
But please, Tiger, stay away from Nickelback. It’s for your own good. Trust me.
xoxo,
k

So for this past week, I’ve become addicted to a new (to me) blog: http://www.frkncngz.com. What does frkncngz mean? I have no idea. But what I do know is that this blog has all of these quotes and sometimes pictures that are either funny or emo or inspiring…all of my favorite things! I think I’ve spent at least an hour a day for the past week reading the archives, which I probably shouldn’t admit publicly. But whatever. Here are some of the ones that I love:
Wonderful, right?

This kills me:
I don’t know about you guys, but I think that is far funnier than David After Dentist. I mean, the girl raps about Jesus. And speaks in a British accent. And talks about unicorns flying her to magical lands. Almost makes me want to get some teeth pulled.

Today is a very important day. It marks the 24th year that one of my favorite people in the word has been alive. I mean, 24, gross, but there’s a lot for Walsh to celebrate: surviving college, having me in her life, the work of The Postal Service…
Back in the day, when Walsh and I were mild freakshows who managed to find each other (and other delightful freakshows) in the halls of our freshman dorm, we ADORED that song. It was borderline unhealthy. And I’m not saying we sang duets and alternated who was the girl and who was the boy, but we totally sang duets and alternated who was the girl and who was the boy. Sometimes it really amazes me that I have friends.
Then I remember that Walsh makes things like this in her free time…
…and I understand why it all works. So here’s to you, Walsh. I’m glad you were born, glad you were adopted, and DAMN thankful that you saw past my side ponytail so that we could get to where we are today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
