I have some random song stuck in my head 99% of the time, and I’ll usually sing parts of that song out loud to my friends and express a desire for other people to be able to hear my running soundtrack. My friends will roll their eyes and point out that maybe some people don’t want to hear things like the CSI theme song or the song “Slow Motion” while they are going about their daily lives.
Lately, I’ve had the song “We’ve Been Had,” by The Walkmen stuck in my head a lot. Because I’m obsessed with her, I seem to be getting most of my musical inspiration from Dooce. But whatever, the lady’s got her some good taste.

This is the shining moment of the debate. This is where Biden won it. He is just so genuine.
I keep thinking about this moment over and over. And here is what struck me. Without even meaning to, Biden did something very important for women in this election. Palin plays the “mom” thing over and over again. She’s just a hockey mom, she’s got kids, blah blah blah. She talks about hardships. These are things that resonate with women. He showed that these are things that resonate with him as well. He was a single parent. He had to be a father, and a mother, at the same time. So really, what he did, was show that women don’t have to vote for another woman to get someone who understands those experiences. That’s huge.
And Sarah Palin didn’t even acknowledge what he had said or what he did. She could have said something nice, but she didn’t. Heartless. Mean. Unqualified.

As a Democrat, I usually disagree with most everything Republican columnist Kathleen Parker says. But she’s right about Sarah Palin. Palin is out of her league here. Parker admits that it’s hard to give up on a fellow Vagina-American, but Palin must do what’s right and step down. It’s alright, K. If Sarah Palin was a man she’d still be unqualified.
Since I do not want to dedicate ANY more of my personal words and energy to Sarah Palin, I am providing a link to this piece. Plus, it’s good to read the words from a Republican, rather than my obviously biased (but would be AWESOME) summary. It’s healthy. Go on, read it.

As many of you know, I am legit obsessed with the Counting Crows and would accept a job fixing Adam Duritz’s dreads if he would only offer it to me. I thought I had heard every Counting Crows song ever made, but of course this new genius playlist thing from iTunes was all “Ha ha! Look at all these songs you’ve never heard! And you call yourself a fan!” and then I felt inadequate and immediately bought all of the songs. It turned out to be a good idea, because I discovered what is now one of my new favorite songs. It’s actually a cover of a Jackson Frank song, but I really dig the Counting Crows version. Without further ado, please enjoy “The Blues Run the Game”:
