miss usa crystle stewart wipes out.

Readers, here is something for your Monday morning. Enjoy! Even beauty queens have bad days…

As if the world couldn’t think America was any dumber, we were shamed at the Miss Universe pageant, the Olympics of Beauty, for the second year in a row. Here is what the UK’s Times Online had to say (why are Brits so much funnier even in their news ledes?!):

For the second year in succession, the American entrant in the Miss Universe pageant failed to meet the crucial challenge of walking and smiling at the same time.

Crystle Stewart, from Texas, tripped and fell on stage at the global beauty contest today, just as Miss USA did last year. She failed to make the final, which was won by Miss Venezuela, a former kidnap victim.

Failed to meet the crucial challenge of walking and smiling? HAHA. But seriously, don’t sweat it girl, because you weren’t going to beat a kidnap victim anyway. I mean, COME ON, that’s intense and she deserves to win. Here she is. Rawr.

And I know I said America was shamed earlier, but I was being sarcastic (shocker, I know). I can totally relate to Crystle because I take diggers all the time. So Crystle, I know that you are probably curled up on your bed with tons of decorative pillows, eating full bricks of chocolate and watching Pride and Prejudice (the six A&E hour version) with mascara running down your face but I want you to know it’s going to be okay. You’re still incredibly hot and you still probably want world peace, so get out there and do it. We still love you! And probably didn’t know who you were before this.

a little something for your weekend.

Unfortunately, I won’t be blogging much this weekend. But to get you through, I have compiled a list of links that I most likely would have blogged about or find interesting enough to share, and you’ll have to use your imagination to think of what Mal and/or I would say about them.

This story about siblings torn apart by the Holocaust and being reunited after 66 years made me cry more than watching the video of Christian the Lion. No jokes and nothing snarky to say–there is good in this world.

Here is an interesting piece on Wall-E. The first negative thing I’ve read and it brings up some valid points. Still haven’t seen the movie though. What do you think?

People are over medicated, and our dogs are next. Here is a piece from the NYT Magazine. Since I’m not going to, make all the jokes you want. Make me proud.

There’s going to be a DC version of “The Hills”. I’m pissed, because I wanted to be in it. My idea for a show title was just “The Hill”. Clever, I know. Ha. Shockingly, they went for more party oriented than political party oriented girls…

I love baby names, and I might give someone a candy bar or something to let me name their child. But give up a gas card? HELL NO. Have you seen the price of gas? This story is so wrong on so many levels. I LOVE IT. These people are nutso. Maybe I should do something like this. I bet I could come up with something better than Sunday Rose. Ugh.

And finally, a slideshow of supermodels then and now. Claudia Schiffer is still pretty hot. And girl don’t even get me started on Tyra.

Dunzo. Enjoy. Comment. Have adventures. Miss me. XOXO.

jada and will? stay together forever.

Dear Jada and Will,

Ever since Nelson Mandela’s birthday party where you both looked consistently smashing and seemed really cute and fun and respectful, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much I like you two. Maybe it’s because Jada’s really short, and Will’s pretty tall, and I’ve always thought that made for a cute — if somewhat hard to imagine, er, logistically — couple. Also, Will, Big Willie Style has brought me joy for many, many years, and I will never think of Miami without thinking of you. Plus, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air  was pretty great. I’ll probably never see Hancock, but in your defense, I’ve heard it’s not as bad as it looks.

Jada, I maaaybe used to think you were Halle Barry, but you’re great too. Reign Over Me wins the award for making me cry longer and harder than any other movie I’ve ever seen, and that’s no easy feat. I also love how cute and tiny you are. As my idols over at GFY pointed out, you looked so adorable with your hubby at the Hancock premiere:

Even though Wikipedia tells me that Will was married before you came along, Jada, I’d like to imagine that you two crazy kids have been together forever. Either way, you’ve got a little over a decade under your marital belt, and I dig that. Plus, your kids are so adorable it should be illegal:

Cute

There is one little thing, though, guys. You apparently funded a Scientology school and are being kind of secretive about it. Now I’m all for education, but Scientology creeps me out. The Fox News article linked above tells me that this school, New Village Academy, “plans to use some teaching methods developed within the Church of Scientology and has hired a team of Scientologists to put them into action.” But there’s no mention on the school’s website that it has any affiliation with the Church of Scientology. That’s not cool.

I’m surprised, because Will, you’ve never publicly said you’re a Scientologist, and you’ve said some pretty intelligent things about religion:

In December, interviewed on “Access Hollywood,” Smith said of his Scientology connection: “I was introduced [to] it by Tom [Cruise], and I’m a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household, I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98 percent the same ideas of Scientology, 98 percent the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism.”

I’m all for that attitude, but I’m bummed that you’re not being forthright about New Village Academy’s religious affiliation. Maybe you could work on being a little more honest there. Because other than this little slip up, you and Jada seem perfect. Anytime you need a babysitter, you know where to find me.

Cheers,
Mallory

sick curiosity will make you look.

ABC News has a lot of quality news stories–and plenty of slideshows for those who don’t like to read a lot. Not a lot to say about this (disappointing, I know), but it’s a slideshow of famous actors and when they lost their virginity. Some of them are believable- like Johnny Depp. Rawr! Others…not so much. Flav? Seriously? What was that girl thinking? Happy viewing/reading, you sick group of perverts! Good morning!

Here is Mariah Carey (or should I say Mrs. Nick Cannon. How did that happen? Drumline was so good!) on the August cover of Elle Magazine. Wowie.

All hail the power of Photoshop.

nicole kidman pops out sunday rose.

According to hubby Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman had her baby today–a girl they named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. Interesting choice of name. What automatically jumps out at me is the fact that Sunday was born on a Monday–if that doesn’t blow your mind I don’t know what does. Also, is it just me, or does Sunday Rose sound like a Yankee Candle fragrance name? Haha. Anyway, I hope that Sunday Rose and Maddie Briann can become friends and once Angelina has her twins the party will be complete! I wonder if Sunday Rose will be as cool as Shiloh or Suri? And don’t forget little Harlow (Nicole Ritchie’s baby…what a slutty name)! I could go on and on listing the strange names of celebrity babies, but I won’t.

Congratulations to Keith and Nicole on their baby and being SO original by choosing an unusual name!

Here is a Yankee Candle:

And here is Suri Cruise- I’ve been needing some sort of an excuse to post a picture of this beautiful child:

youtube clip of today: the muppets!

Okay, so, I KNOW it’s not still Independence Day, but it is still Independence Day weekend. Plus, patriotism is always allowed. I’ll admit it. I’m easily entertained, but this is kind of funny. It’s the Muppets, for christ’s sake! Plus, Beeker is really cute.

serena is on venus’ planet again.

It’s sports week at Six Words!

For those of you that have siblings, you know that there’s always a little competition. My brother and I compete on many levels, but it’s usually games like body spray wars (everyone loses because you smell disgusting) and who can tell the most outrageous stories (okay, he wins). Nothing we do or ever will do can come close to the competition between Venus and Serena Williams.

Today, Venus beat Serena in the singles finals at Wimbledon. That means they are number 1 and 2 in the world. Awesome. It is Venus’ fifth Wimbledon championship, but Serena has won two. These girls are wild. On top of being remarkable athletes, they both have degrees in fashion design. Williams sisters: 2. Kathleen: 0. Eeek.

Here is something I found to be interesting. Their mother, Oracene, was there to watch them play but their father, Richard, went home because he can’t handle seeing his daughters play each other. Um, okay. But if you’re going to raise the top two tennis players in the world, you should be used to it by now. Right? That just seemed a little strange to me.

On a side note, does anybody remember the movie Wimbledon? The very thought that a movie, starring Kirsten Dunst of all people, was about tennis and had her eventually winning Wimbledon is laughable. The movie was terrible, but upon some research, I learned that James McAvoy was in it! He’s everywhere (to me)! Let’s see how many posts I can reference him in before it gets too old.

McAvoy (rawr!) aside, I was trying to figure out which Williams sister I like best. I think I’m going to go with Venus, because she’s the oldest. And as an older sister myself, I know you must keep the younger sibs in check. Like maybe beating them at Wimbledon, showing them up in a cheesecake eating competition, or seeing who can hold on to the remote control longest.

Fashionistas:

Kirsten Dunst, neither an athlete nor a fashionista:

youtube clip of today: great song.

So this is a video of Joe Cocker singing his famous version of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends”. He is INCREDIBLY high and has to be translated…which is when it gets funny. Please note his “dancing” and air guitar skills. Seriously some of the translations had me laughing out loud.

Can you imagine being one of the backup singers…

“Sounding good, Joe!” “Love the new lyrics!” “Great dance moves!” “Please don’t OD during the middle of this song…”
