youtube clip of today: $25,000 cupcake.

I know I’ve been posting a lot of videos lately, but I’d like to think that they are a lot of entertaining videos, which makes it okay. To continue the trend, I show you the following, which is inexplicably one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen:

I found this video on my new favorite blog, Bulimia’s so ’87.

In other news, I COOKED SOMETHING TODAY. Like, used ingredients and pots and stuff and made soup. Real soup! Not the microwaveable kind! And my family ate it! Guys, I think this might mean that I’m closing in on the whole adulthood thing. Baby steps.

introducing letters from a month later!

typing

Hey folks! Some of my wonderful and witty friends have put together a blog called “Letters from a Month Later.” The mission?:

This blog aims to promote the long lost art of tact and self control. With the advent of instantaneous communication such as the internet, people have been word vomiting all over each other for the past 10 or so years.

Back in the horse and buggy days you had to have the money for paper and pen, and the time for serious reflection. You also needed money for stamps. This restricted our ability to simply barf our incoherent emotional goolash over whomever we feel may have wronged us, or just not loved us enough…

We plan not only to show the good, but also the bad, and the impolite. Create a sort of do’s and don’ts of interweb communication. Just because it’s there, doesn’t mean you should spew all over it. Respect the email like you respect the letter and there will be joy in the world once more.

Basically, it’s a blog chock-full of love or hate or whiney or creepy letters from those exes that just can’t seem to keep their mouths shut or their fingers from typing. I encourage you to stalk the blog like the writers of these letters stalked their exes, submit your own letters, and generally enjoy the voyuerism of reading other people’s Letters from a Month Later. The website is here, at http://lfaml.wordpress.com. Enjoy!

trina sues college…because she’s unemployed.

moneyTrina Thompson, like millions of Americans, is unemployed.  But instead of revamping her resume, or going to a job fair, she came up with a different idea.  She decided to sue her alma mater, Monroe College, for $70,000.  Seventy thousand dollars,  by the way, was the cost of her Bachelor’s Degree.  In other words, she wants her money back because she doesn’t have a job.

Trina, darling, it’s not the school’s fault you can’t get a job.  It probably isn’t your fault either.  Times are tough.  But wasting taxpayer dollars on a silly court case so you don’t have to continue looking for a job and living off settlement money is just ridiculous.

Recession sucks, but we’re going to get out of it.  Until then, Trina, do what the rest of us did– start a blog!

Read the story HERE.

one of the greatest observations…ever.

I’ve started to read this blog called NonSociety, which my friend Colleen alerted me to because one of the bloggers went to her high school. I’ve added it to the list of blogs I regularly check, mostly because it’s pretty light and airy in an addictive way, with some serious and wise thrown in. The three girls who started the blog, Julia, Mary, and Meghan, have done REALLY well for themselves, and they’ve earned a lot of haters on the way. (I’ve always, er, hated the word haters, but in the world of blogging and mean comments I really can’t think of a better word.) So another big reason that I read NonSociety is because I believe they deserve some serious good vibes. I get worked up when one rando from Europe insults me in a comment (not that I’m still bitter), so it’s hard for me to imagine dealing with being called things like the number one worst thing about the Internet, as Julia recently was. (And seriously, bitch went to Georgetown and seems really nice. LEAVE HER ALONE HATERS.)

This is all a long-winded way of saying that I found something really great on NonSociety today, which was a quote from and a link to another lovely lady video blogger named Brigitte Dale. Take a look:

“Dancing is about moving the attractive bits of your body in a way that will take attention away from the unattractive bits.”

How much do you love that? And as Brigitte points out in the video, it kind of applies to everything. Think about it.

Speaking of Paul Rudd, you should probably watch all of these.

funny things found on the internets.

Enjoy an assortment of funny things found on the internets:

  • I never thought I’d say such a blasphemous thing, but this is better than Cry Face. Be sure to check out the “How To.”
  • Ha, I like this guy: “Not to be a dick or anything, Iguana, but you’re not a fucking dinosaur. I know you roam around showing off your scaly skin, beady little eyes, and your nose holes. And yes, I’ve seen your tongue. But let me ask you a few questions. Can I ride you? Do you have answering machine messages from Steven Spielberg? WERE YOU ON MY SHOES WHEN I WAS EIGHT???”
  • I’m embarrassed by how many people sent me a link to this. I’m also embarrassed that my boss told me today that if she ever needed to coax me out of a burning building (long story), she’d just get a breakfast sandwich and say “Maaaaallory…look what I haaave…”

Bet your Friday night wasn’t as fun as mine!!!

see this cake? don’t eat it.

As much as I like to promote my own blog (and wittiness), I must give major kudos to this blog, http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/. They have truly combined some of my favorite things and turned it into a heeeeeesterical bloggy. Frosting, cake and snark. Yummy. Highlights include bad punctuation, horrible spelling, colors that make you want to have a seizure and just general grossness. Here’s a picture to tempt you. Enjoy.
